tinéraires photographiques (Photographic Itineraries) was the theme chosen this year for the second Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gaspésie, which from August 5 to September 12 brought together highest-quality exhibits and projections. Over 900 photos by some 30 photographers, emerging or well-known, from all over the world are being presented in 13 Gaspé municipalities. This rendezvous is likely to extend the tourist season by a number of weeks and to attract more tourists from Québec and elsewhere. The perspective of Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gaspésie making a name for itself both locally and in other places through its quality and the event’s enabling the Gaspé to stand out as a choice cultural destination – this is what prompted local economic players to do everything in their power to ensure that this large-scale activity could take place a second time.
